Outside with Recess Village (OWRV) is dedicated to providing underrepresented adventurers, nature enthusiasts, and communities with transformative outdoor experiences that foster connection, creativity, and wellness. Our Young, Wild & Free program empowers youth through nature-based activities, and the Eco-Arts Workshop introduces participants to creative, eco-friendly art projects that connect them with the environment.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Eco-Arts Workshop Facilitator for our Young, Wild & Free program. The facilitator will be responsible for designing and leading engaging workshops that inspire children and teens to explore their creativity through eco-conscious art activities. This role involves working outdoors, guiding participants in creating art from natural materials, and incorporating lessons about sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with youth, a background in art education or environmental science, and a deep passion for nature.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver eco-art workshops that align with OWRV’s mission of fostering a connection to nature through creativity.
Guide participants in creating art using natural materials, recycled items, and sustainable practices.
Foster a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment for children and teens to express themselves through art.
Incorporate educational elements about environmental sustainability, conservation, and the importance of nature in the workshops.
Collaborate with OWRV staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the workshops.
Manage workshop supplies, ensuring that materials are eco-friendly and that participants understand how to use them safely and sustainably.
Provide feedback on program development and suggest new activities to enhance participant engagement.
Qualifications:
Background in art education, environmental science, or related fields (experience in eco-friendly practices preferred).
Experience working with children and teens in an educational or recreational setting.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire youth.
A passion for environmental sustainability and the outdoors.
Ability to work independently, think creatively, and adapt to outdoor settings.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, when workshops are held.
